Following the Leader (Amber J.)

Just along for the ride

The New World (Chaos Walking, #0.5) - Patrick Ness I know I'm crazy late but WOW. This prequel is different than any book (really novella) I've ever read. The author continues to jump back-and-forth between the "present" and the past. I really like that he chose to incorporate the flashbacks that way. When I read the words on the page unfold like a movie in my mind, and using flashbacks and descriptive language help to add to the cinematic feel of the story, which I loved. The story itself was pretty sad. I did feel bad for Viola because she was pretty mean to her parents and never got a chance to apologize to them. This definitely has peaked my interest in the Chaos Trilogy, but The Knife of Never Letting Go is written very differently (from Todd's POV), so I'm still not sure if I'm ready to dive headfirst into the Trilogy.
